A Little About me…
Hello, my name is Brontë.
I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor who has a degree from Coventry University in Integrative Counselling, and a fully registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy who works with Adults aged 18+. Being an Integrative Counsellor simply means that I draw on different theories and interventions that best suit the clients needs.
I decided to train as a therapist because I experienced first hand how important it was to speak to someone impartial, in a safe space. Not long after, I understood how important it can be to look back on our own experiences in life, so that we can break unhealthy patterns and move forward in life in a more positive and healthy way.
My Approach
My core approach as a Counsellor is to work in a ‘person-centred’ way, meaning that the client determines where the therapy goes, after all, you are the expert in your own life.
In my sessions I also use elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) where appropriate, and also use TA (Transactional Analysis) which can help explain certain dynamics in the clients life, by identify patterns and helping promote a healthy way for the client to move forward in their life.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works on the principal that your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations are all interconnected.
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems by breaking them down into more manageable parts.
TA
Transactional Analysis looks at the dynamics that happen in the everyday interactions we have with people, whether it be between partners, work colleagues, family, friends or strangers.
It helps to try and understand these dynamics, so that we can work to try and improve them.
Person-CentreD
A person-centred approach to counselling simply means that the person is at the centre of the therapy.
Each and every single one of my clients are unique, gifted, with value and is the expert in their own life.
